Ten Things You Should Never Say to a Lesbian

10. All lesbians have penis envy; they just want to be men.

No, we don't. We are women who like to be with women. Who said anything about men? So guys have dicks, so what? It's not like I can't walk six blocks and buy a dick of my own. Plus, I don't have to worry about being too small, coming too early, or getting it up. If anything, men want to be lesbians.

O, There's so much more and there's plenty of room for women and men of transsexing histories to learn a bit of something as well. Especially those who somehow feel that even though sexuality isn't tied to gender identity and sex that there is a more valid reason to be straight than lesbian. :) Get a few clues. Natalie is just the person to start you on your clue-hunt. :)

#11, from the Lex in SF - try to avoid "F U and the Harley you rode in on."  Didn't have the desired response, unless she was into the M part of S&M.  True story.

Love it.  Thank you so much for posting this. :D

You are most welcome, Tam!! :)

And any one is welcome to add, just try to be nice about it, eh? Everyone knows lesbians are bad-ass, foul-mouthed as well as all of the stuff Natalie wrote about. So, we obviously need image work and being nice might just do some of that!!

Like any group of people, some are nice, others, well, not so nice - my kind of people by the way, which is why I love the Lex. I know several who loathe the "D" word, on the other hand, the Dykes on Bikes contingent that has led the Gay Freedom Day/Pride Parade every single year, just keeps getting bigger and bigger.

2. Being a lesbian transsexual isn't biological, it's a choice.

Do you have a choice about who you are attracted to? If things were reversed, could you be convinced to become gay just because the majority of people are? The only choice we have is whether we want to be true to ourselves or not. End of story.

This is a universal truth.

Quote9. I am totally cool with lesbians, I just think two guys ->-bleeped-<-ing is gross.

Remembers me of something I experienced with my exboyfriend before my coming out as a gay FTM... I told him I had a girlfriend once and he said exactly what I quoted...when I finally came out to him and when I told him I cannot imagine to live with a girl...well, he is more concerned about me being gay than a ftm...

When I lived near the bay area I was friends with several lesbians and their Bi-girlfriends. I'm not sure who got the better end of the deal. Def. don't want to snuggle up to the wrong one when your half asleep though

Quote9. I am totally cool with lesbians, I just think two guys ->-bleeped-<-ing is gross.

Do you really think that makes us feel good to hear that? While many lesbians might also be less than excited about ->-bleeped-<-ing men, we are still a part of the gay community. We don't care about your approval, and you are not any less homophobic just because you get hot about the idea of two chicks going at it. You know what I think is gross? Your impudence and stupidity.

I agree and disagree with this one.

I agree it's not the best thing to say. No matter what orientation you are, it's a pretty rude thing to say just because the girl said she said she is a lesbian. On the other hand, it is not homophobia if something doesn't arouse you sexually but it's counterpart does. I think homophobia has a lot more to it than that... especially since there have been studies done that show that most straight male's brains show activity by both straight porn and lesbian porn. It's not exactly impudence or stupidity if it's engraved in your brain, but announcing it in a bad way can be.

I agree with her on some things and I realize this has a bit of a humourous take. However, I can't help but be put off by her spiteful attitude.

Love will open every door it's in your hands, the world is yours
Don't hold back and always know, all the answers will unfold

I agree with all of them, surprising how universal they actually are. But I think most of what I learned not to say to a lesbian came from...outside sources.  ;)
