And I hate it when people pronounce forte, meaning strong point, with two syllables and the stress on the second syllable, as forTAY. That's one of my biggest pet peeves. The word is French in origin, not Italian. If folks are going to give it the two-syllable spin, the least they can do is to, er, franckify it and place the emphasis on the first syllable and barely pronounce the second syllable.
I guess that dates me. Older dictionaries only have one pronunciation--the one-syllable way.
And, yes, I know I'm a pedant. It's a dirty job, but someone has to do it.
