Acid reflux and binding?

I have acid reflux (I don't take medicine for it, I hate pills.) and when I bind, I have heartburn/chest pain that feels very, very similar to when my acid reflux acts up. For a while I thought it was just a coincidence, but now I figure it can't be. It happens almost every time. I use an ace bandage and I don't bind that tight, really. I'm pretty small (thank god) so it doesn't take much to flatten my chest out. Just the same, acid reflux is horrible. It's way too uncomfortable to continue binding this way.

Does anyone have any other methods? I'd like to get a binder from underworks but I won't have the money until I start working again...and that isn't until the middle of August.

I dunno if it'd be any better, but I had an abdominal support that I bought from a medical supplies place and it worked pretty well. I have reflux problems too, but binding didn't seem to affect it. Mind you, I never tried Ace bandages.

While I am no expert in Acid Reflux, I do know that over time that you can damage your larynx/vocal cords if this is a chronic condition.  Basically it means that the sphincter at the stomach, or the sphincter at the throat are not closing properly allowing leakage back up to the throat.  Check this link out - ACID REFLUX.

Hope this helps.

I have the same problem. I have acid reflux real bad and when I bind it acts up. I too refuse to take medicine because I hate pills. I use a abdominal support binder I bought from a medical supply store and dont tighten all the way on a daily basis. But when I tighten it all the way when I go to bars or somewhere I insist on passing as male it acts up real bad.
Maybe something to try is to buy a pair of pantyhose and cut the legs off and use the top part as a binder. Sounds wierd but give it a try. You can get pantyhose pretty cheap. That may be a solution that will flatten you but not make it tight to where your acid reflux bothers you.
