transgender females and divorce/dissolution of marriage...

ok those of you are male to female, i need your input(not really sure if the guys can help  ) other than Dennis.

as most of you know my partner and i will possibly divorcing or dissolving our marriage. and of course since it's the state of ohio, they're going to everything they can to insult me, wrong pronouns, the works 

she's already talked to a bunch of lawyers and they've made sure that she's fully aware that i will have severely limited access to my own flesh and blood children becaue i'm a pervert.

the lawyer she has been talking to said he would rather us do a dissolution because it's cheaper and it would look better on credit reports for me and what not. she was looking through info online about it and asked me if i wanted to pay spousal support or child support. if i remember right when my parents finally got divorced, my dad had to pay spousal support until she got remarried, then child support after that...can anyone tell me if i'm wrong cause i'm quite sure you don't get to choose..and i know her all too well she'll definitely get remarried and it more than likely won't be to me. :>)

You'll need to get yourself a lawyer.  If you think your rights as a parent are in jeopardy, now is the time to nip that in the bud.  As far as post divorce payments, in Illinois you can be responsible for both maintenance and child support.  In no cases I've ever heard of is child support avoided.  But if they are your kids, why wouldn't you want to help support them?  So it really boils down to maintenance.

But no matter how you look at it, you need to find a good lawyer.

First of all, Mekayla.  ~ Big Hug ~  I know it is tough for both of you.  And I like the new Name.

I have been through it, myself.  I am not sure on the laws in Ohio, but usually if child support is ordered it is till they are 21, if they live at home and are attending college.  Spousal support ends at marriage or death.

And knowing how much you love your kids, I would opt for the child support, but there is no way of knowing if they get an part of it.  You have to risk that.  Anything you seetle on should be fair to both of you.

As for the visitation, I would get a lawyer.  You still have rights regardless of what some bigoted lawyer says, even in Ohio.  Dissolving a marriage might work if you weren't married very log.  You ether need to research that or see a lawyer.

Does Ohio have "No Fault" divorce.  Being she has cheated on your vows, it come back to bite her.

Sometimes just settling things out of court is best.  My ex and I filed a joint petition.

thanks Janet, she's the one who pretty much confirmed it, i was going to spell it so that cabal-mart just had to change just one letter to tick them off, but she liked this spelling better...lol.

as for "no fault" divorce here in Ohio they would justify her cheating because her husband became a woman even though our marriage is still legal AFTER srs. she says she wouldn't do that to me because she knows how much i love my kids. plus if i have to pay either i'm going to have to go back to work full time and they don't have any room for that at cabal-mart since they added another service writer/sales associate and they promised him 35 40 hours a week and they don't even give the shop manager 40 hours a week, and i would like to have my identification match my presentation when i go apply for new jobs.

so spousal support ends when the marriage ends?
i figured i would have to pay child support anyway, i've got three kids and i could never deny that they are mine.
