Yaaaaay! My hair's growing out!

I've started to realize that the only reason I ever cut my hair short (from the ages of nine to twenty-one) was so I'd look like a guy. Before that, I had amazingly long hair. Now that looking like a guy isn't really a problem, as I've been on T for about three years, I'm growing it out again. I've always loved long hair, and I don't see any reason not to have it. It's really shaggy now, and in a month or so it'll be down to my shoulders - it grows like crazy!

Good for you! Fight the power!

...Meaning the feeling that it's not a good way to show off how much of a man you are by having your hair long...

...if that makes any sence...
If you do not agree to my demands... TOO LATE

I use to grow out my hair too, but it always annoyed me and led to me chopping it off. Though in some ways I enjoyed having long hair. :P

Rock that hair Andrew! :D

I just had my sister trim my short hair into a more masculine shape.
I will grow it out though, and get dreads, eventually.

Long hair on men absolutely rocks.

One of the things I most miss about Italy.

agreed, so long as it isn't my hair that's long.  too hot!  :D  I love guys in long hair.

100% agree - I definitely want to grow mine out to surfer/artist-short-ponytail length after I've been on T for long enough.

Yes!  I haven't cut my hair since August, and now it's long enough to put in a small ponytail if I really try (not that I do; I hate ponytails).  Of course, I'm pre-everything, so now I don't pass, but vanity has won this battle.

I have long hair since it's curly and my parentals won't let me buzz it or let me do a short afro. But I don't mind it. I can do a big afro if I feel like dealing with it. And it's more fun than a buzz.

Give me a bit more facial hair and I'm right there with ya. The clean-cut corporate look isn't really my thing, either.

i love longish/shaggy hair. i'd do it but i hate the growing out stage so i've jus been buzzing it.

oh and also i like having a buzz cut cos i can pass for maybe a 16 year old guy, whereas with a lil bit longer hair people think i'm a 13-14 year old boy. maybe once i'm on T for a lil while i'll grow it a bit!

Okay, I'm mtf (just starting hrt, with very long hair)

How long are some of you guys talking?

In my experience, shoulder length, they will mostly ignore. Anything more than your shoulder blades and people will really start to talk and look at you strange, of course age, job and a few other things my effect this as well. At this length it also becomes a hassle, but some of you are probably aware of that.

My hair has been the topic of more than a few conversations behind my back. I have had some strange comments made and a few people have actually threatened to cut my hair off. Men think it's strange and not appropriate for business and old ladies just seem to really have issues with it. My great grandmother would disown me if she saw my hair even half the length it is, she complained as a child if it went close to my shoulders. It's at my waist now. Some just think it was a reaction to getting out of the military and being forced to have short hair so they often do not bother me about it (hehe, I was always out of regs). Some don't want to mention it, others are downright rude but it always causes a commotion these days.

Mine is shoulder length, and it has definately downed my passablility way much.  I used to pass maybe 80% among strangers, now it's maybe 20%, although this might be partially because of clothing choices as well.  For a bioguy or someone who has been on T for a while, I quite agree that it would be irrelevant.  And you are also right that when people do think I'm a boy, they don't think that my hair length is odd.
