'Sexual orientation' removed from Kanawha schools policy

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Kanawha County school board members voted
unanimously Thursday evening to remove the words "sexual orientation"
from proposed revisions to a cultural diversity policy, which pleased
at least one opponent of the controversial policy.

Meanwhile, advocates who sought to protect gay, lesbian, bisexual and
transgender students from physical and mental harassment were somewhat
disappointed.
