John Lyons, wearing a dress, heels and a bright-red wig, felt pretty good about his outfit yesterday.

"I'm gorgeous," Lyons said with a smile.

"The heels are something else. My feet are numb."

Lyons, a city police staff sergeant, was one of several community members who took part in the first ever "Drag Race," at Market Hall yesterday.

The race was full of "gender obstacles" for the contestants, who all dressed in drag.
