A fully inclusive civil rights bill recently made it out of a Kansas Senate committee, but it's not likely to become law this session.

From the Topeka Capitol-Journal's Discrimination bill debate unlikely:

Supporters of a bill prohibiting discrimination based on sexual orientation are happy it was passed out of committee.

But it's unlikely it will be considered by the full Senate this session. Senate Majority Leader Derek Schmidt, an Independence Republican, says he doesn't know if he'll bring the bill before the full Senate.

He first wants to know why a majority of the Federal and State Affairs Committee recommended approval of the bill.

...The legislation would prohibit discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity.
