"Anyone who attempts to play the 'real transsexual' card should be summarily dismissed, as they are merely engaging in name calling rather than serious debate."

Sort of the idea is that if you transition, the idea is to be taken for your target gender rather than mistaken for your target gender.  Still, being a woman involves more hurdles than being a man, and that includes dodging a lot more perverts.

Yes, and HS was even more complicated due to it.

Now its more of a lucky thing :p

About 50R% of customers think I'm a girl even well into speaking with them.  It's nice.

Does being called 'Miss' or "her" or "the lady" count?  ;D

Everyday at work, even when talking to my customers.

I feel sorry for the poor soul who tries that with me.   Sixteen years of judo for the win!  ;D

I just knew when I saw this topic title all the FTMs would be posting, "Yeah!  It was really annoying!"  And the MTFs would be posting, "Never really thought of it as a problem.  Good problem to have if you ask me."   etc.

Get a haircut.  Wear a binder.  Worst case is someone might mistake you for a young man, but it should cut down on the groping thing.

I'll never understand why some men just think it's okay to walk up and grab someone they don't know.  It's happened to me more times than I'd like, and when it does, I usually worry about my personal safety.

I actually might have has this happen yesterday.  Either they mistook me for a girl (or should I say properly identified  ;D), or they were making fun of how I was dressed or something.  I was at my school, and I was taking pictures, and I had to lay on the floor to get a good angle.  I was with two of my friends, and someone came up to them and started talking.  And then I hear him say something like "I just wanted to make sure she didn't hurt herself. She just looked like she fell down and hurt herself".  Maybe it's because I was on the floor, with my back to them, and all they could see was the clothes I was wearing and the back of my head (though my hair's not long yet), and I had a camera in my face.  Either way, it did make me feel happy  ;D

The main poster is a boy, no?  So if you're coming in here as a girl and saying that someone thought you were a girl--it's not really what the main poster is talking about, no?

It may not be exactly what they were talking about, but I'm still a boy.  I may want to be more of a girl, but haven't done anything yet.  To everyone else, I am just a boy.  And it's sort of nice that someone saw me and thought I was a girl.

Certain males called "->-bleeped-<- ->-bleeped-<-s (admirers)" of whom I have met more than a few, are not a good gauge of what Kris was talking about since they will snap your bra strap whether they think you are a boy or a girl. Finding real boob in the bra would probably scare them, but silicone would be their lucky day!!!  It was when my level of annoyance with this reached a certain plateau, that I realized I was "not that kind of a girl".   :P

Whether food servers have learned how TG's calculate tips, or I have been legitimately taken as a woman, my most frequent and welcome female pronouns come in nice restaurants.  It is pleasant, and reasonably sincere on the server's part.  (Female pronouns double the tip!!!)

On one occasion, where I did have hands coming toward the wrong area, I lapsed into "male voice" to tell the goof off, but when I did he immediately looked behind him to see if my "boyfriend" was behind him ready to do something "unpleasant".  He left fast for one reason or the other (both acceptable), the funny thing was that I had my back to a mirror and he could have easily seen if a guy was behind him.  (Wonder what his blood alcohol content was?)

I have not yet had the problem of mistaken identity when I was in male mode, but I have made some other first time out TG's nervous when I have used appropriate pronouns toward them and they had no idea I was "one of the girls". >:-)

I refuse to have a war of wits with a half armed opponent!!

Wiser now about Post Op reality!!

??? ???  "Mistaking" me for a girl? I'm REALLY a girl so there's no "mistake" there.
