NicholeW.

Come home from the wars. What do they matter compared to the heart?

Something Holy

http://radnichole.wordpress.com/2009/03/31/something-holy/

But now I walk, sometimes, into the night and look up. There in the night sky when I escape the football stadium glow of the revamped parking lot that brings daylight to the darkness (Why are American places so defined by escaping the dark? What fear lurks beneath consciousness that makes us so like children needing night-lights to frighten away the monsters?) rides Moon, Goddess. Mother's Mirror. I say, Thank you. You've bathed me and I am as you promised. I am what I am. I am your daughter. I am who I always knew I was.

No anger. No argument. A simple recognition of who one is. No longer any need to hold what was held for so long. Just a simple walk beneath the white light of Moon, Goddess, Mother's Mirror. It's enough. It's always been enough.

wow- thank you for posting this. The parallels to my own experience are downright chill-bump-raising amazing, from Nashville (where I now reside) to praying to the Moon to change me. If I needed any more affirmation that I am on the path of my heart, this clinches it. Funny how magic works. Thank you again.  ^-^

Thank you. :)

Funny how things can sometimes be "what I need" when the writer's not expecting anyone to actually "relate" in the way you just described.

How's Nashville these days? Sometimes I miss it. Left eight years ago now.

All the best. :)

oh, same as always- you know, too much traffic and TDOT still has most of the roads under construction most of the time lol

What you said about "what I need" is so true. Seems to me another indication of how everything is connected, even when we don't realize it. Thanks :)

All the roads? I thought it was only the interstates and the main arterials!! LOL.

Nice piece of writing Nichole, very nice.  :)

I'm married to someone who's name means Goddess of the Moon in her language.

When she was a baby, back home in Java,  she was very ill and in hospital for a long time, her parents in despair went to a Javanese "religious healer". This man said the reason that she was ill was because she was unhappy with her name and gave her her new ones which she has to this day. She got well and has been ever since.

All true.

Maybe another blog there somewhere, Imaz. How one's name sometimes reflects herself?

O, I suppose I've already done that in that series somewhere.

I think what I am reminded of the past few days is the relative meaningless for me of writing about fringe politics. I know, that will get me in trouble. But I find that our "intra-group" politics just leaves me cold. My writing suffers from it.

Let those for whom it's a worthwhile and enjoyable pursuit have it. I'll stick with what moves me and keeps me away from the wars. :)

I thank all of you for your compliments. They are very much appreciated and I'm happy you enjoyed the piece.

You write so beautifully.  And you express your thoughts so eloquently.  I can almost not only see you, but I can see myself in your words.

Blessed be dear sister.

Nichole:

I can easily see and feel sorcery in what and how you have written there.  It is a picture that feels a part of the lives of those of us who are transgendered.

As one born on the other side of the country from you though, the moon would be rising above a tangle of gaunt desert plants whose limbs appear to be like cronelike priestesses making offerings to their beloved center of life.  That is the only difference between your story and mine.

If all of us could write as well and lovingly as you have, the night would have other music in it.  :-*

You are well on the journey of a bard.

Why thank you, Vicky.

I don't think I can make people not afraid of the dark though!

Your comments were quite gracious and much appreciated. :icon_hug:
