Sure! They've been owned by Volkswagen for many years now and are basically Volkswagens with a more basic trim level. My Fabia is just a Volkswagen Polo in a different shape!

Old Skodas were something else however...

Ente? Is that the 2cv? Once had a Spanish built Dyane, unlike the French ones the windows could actually be wound down, an amazing technological breakthrough!

Please do not ask about the specs, Imaz! All I know is that they were tiny, mostly dilapidated when they came off the assembly line (I think they literally had snaps instead of welds) and they were cheap and popular with students. I believe that the windows pretty much rolled themselves down over time, cobblestone streets and a few bumps and slowly down they came never to rise again!

"Ente" was what the Germans called them the name was something else entirely.

I know they couldn't meet basic safety standards to be imported into the US. Neither could those east-bloc Skodas. They got passed around by Amis as we left we donated them for spare change to one another!
