THE ATLANTA PRIDE COMMITTEE HAS ANNOUNCED a slew of events to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots on June 28, with more events to come.

A number of parties, fundraisers and events will take place under the Pride banner from June 25 to June 28, the traditional Pride weekend.

The Atlanta Pride Committee was forced to hold the 2008 festival on July 4th at the Atlanta Civic Center after city officials became concerned over the drought's effects on Piedmont Park. As part of a compromise for this year, Pride is returning to Piedmont Park, but on the Halloween weekend. Plans for the 2010 celebration are still in flux, as a spokesperson for the Atlanta Parks, Recreation & Cultural Affairs department said the city has not eased its drought restrictions.
