Hi there,

I am a 29 year old gay man, and I'm here trying to get some information to help my FTM sibling.  Currently he is 17 years old, and seeing a therapist who specializes in transition.  We have a terrific family who is very supportive and willing to assist him in becoming who he wants to be in whatever way possible.  He is very close to beginning his first hormone therapy.  An issue that has come up several times is that he wants to harvest eggs for preservation in the event that he wants children in the future.  Does anyone have any advice here?? Where can we find a fertility clinic that will help us?  It seems there is some reluctance for these places to assist a gender dysphoric individual, especially at such a young age.  I would really appreciate any advice you can offer.

Thanks :)

Hello and welcome to Susan's

Thank you for posting.  Please feel free to explore the site, get familiar with the site rules, and visit our chat room as well as our wiki (our goldmine of information)

I find it very touching and sweet that you are supporting your little brother in his journey.  In fact we have an article in our wiki that deals with what you are asking.  Please take a sec to explore it and don't hesitate to ask any questions.  Enjoy your stay and thanks for posting!

Thanks for the tips!! I actually saw the wiki article regarding reproductive options.  Great information.  I guess what I'm looking for is more of a recommendation of a clinic or service that has experience dealing with trans individuals. I saw there was a link to a site that has listings for doctors that specialize in reproductive medicine, but again, certainly not all of those doctors are going to be familiar or comfortable with our situation.  We are willing to go pretty much any where in the country to accomodate!

Thanks also for the kind words and welcome!  I do very much love my little brother.  He is quite the typical teenage boy in every sense!  As I mentioned before, I am gay (and my best friend is androgenous)...I have always been blessed by having a loving and accepting family myself...and thats all I want for my brother on his journey to self actualization.

thanks again :)

Why does the clinic need to know that he's gender dysphoric?  It seems to me you could tell them some story and then use whatever clinic.
