Hi everyone,
Many of you probably know by now that Alberta is revoking that province's long-standing gender-confirming surgery funding (aka Sex Reassignment Surgery). I rarely sign petitions; I particularly don't ask anyone else to sign them... but having seen first-hand the lifesaving difference SRS makes to those who need it, and knowing only too well that access to these procedures is largely based on a two-tiered system (haves and have-nots), making SRS impossible for most unless funding is available, I want to provide you with this link in case you are interested in signing it yourself, or to simply spread this petition link to other interested friends and colleagues. There may still be time to reverse this decision before it's etched in stone.
Judging from the comments added by many of the signers, there's clearly a wide range of participants from around the globe, all saying the same thing: these procedures need to be funded. This momentum and passion is very encouraging, as is the high volume of non-trans signers.
Feel free to forward this message as far and wide as possible.
