In the context this is used, I think it was saying that the "husband" had done cross-dressing prior to marriage, which is perfectly normal for a TS.  After all, they refer to the "husband" as a transsexual in the title of the article.

This story was reported in a few of the papers in the UK.

The Sunday Mirror is a well know tabloid paper, with strong views and outspoken and dramatic headlines on these types of issues.

In the past they have sensationalized many stories of this kind, the classic example being when Nadia Almedia (MTF) won Big Brother, the UK Reality TV show.

The above incident gave rise to changes in the way the UK press "regulates itself" and there is now a code of conduct relating to the terms and pronouns used when reporting on Transsexual people.

I just replied to a post started by LIT about Li the Chinese Trannie wanting to enter the Miss china/scheg Zhouah?? pageant
  And how interesting that for all that is going on in china what stick up is this news about Li, which has made the rounds here in the US.  Yet this is the first time I hear of the winner of the UK reality show being a Trannie. 
Think 4 a moment, Here in the US We know didly about China and we should and we took space to report on Li for a while; We are like twins joined at the hip with the UK (actually that is Canada but they may not like that reference) we get tons of news from the UK now it seems almost indistinguishable between British and Continental new even BBC is the regular broadcast at PBS yet Zero, Zilch, Nada, NIchts about this TS winning Big Brother?   Content? I am beginning to think that that is not the name of the game. Yet we get he news of Miss Everett finding out about her husbands decision to her embarrassment...

I see a trend here:  Li..+  Ms Everett  = embarrassment ...
TS wins BIG Brother =not Embarrassment but pride.   mmnnhh we should think hard on this because there might be something to it   ...not!
