CONCORD – Toni Mavaki, 52, said her co-workers verbally and physically assaulted her while she was working as a corrections officer at the Carroll County Jail as she transitioned from being male to female.

Mavaki, a Danbury resident, said after two years of abuse, she left the job in disgust because her superiors refused to investigate his sexual harassment complaints. She had to go to Vermont to get a job as a police officer.

"The officer who pummeled me into a wall, they made him my supervisor and put me on his shift," Mavaki told reporters.
"Be yourself; everyone else is already taken." Oscar Wilde
