I had a consult for top surgery today it will be $7,200 plus medications. I am having Peri (amazed how much smaller my breasts are) and that includes one revision after. He does not resize the nipple itself for 1 year so I will have to pay for that later but it is in office so no anesthesia or operating room costs.
Myles

In office? Wow. :D

Oh, I forgot to ask- is it normal for the nipple surgery to be done separately?

I have not read that this is normal, he said it's just the way he likes to do it. Explained about making sure to use good parts of the nipple, good tissue or something. My SO remembers more about it than I do. I believe the other doctors I have read about do it all at once, but since he is local it's not that big of a deal to go back.

I also think if it meant you had to pay anesthesia and operating room again he would do it all at once.

Mister

which surgeon is this?

Ok first I will clarify which surgery he suggested, as my description was lame as heck. Here is the description from the Hudson Guide.
In the peri-areolar method, an incision is made along the entire circumference of the areola. The nipple is usually left attached to the body via a pedicle in order to maintain sensation. Breast tissue is then "scooped out" by scalpel, or with a combination of scalpel and liposuction. The areola may be trimmed somewhat to reduce its size. Excess skin on the chest may also be trimmed away along the circumference of the incision. The skin is then pulled taut toward the center of the opening and the nipple is reattached to cover the opening-- much like pulling a drawstring bag closed. Thus, this procedure is also sometimes referred to as the drawstring or "purse string" technique. The nipple/areola may be repositioned slightly, depending on original chest size and the available skin.
I am going to have another consult to ask specifically where or how he is going to reposition the nipples/aerola as well as nipple resizing. He did say (as mentioned further down in the Hudson Guide) I would need a revision and that that was covered in the price.
Again sorry for my lame description, guess I was so excited. I plan on making better notes next time based on my questions, maybe a note pad would be a good idea. Now that I know what he is suggesting I can also do a bit more research before I go back and know a bit better what to ask him.
His name is Dr Nguyen (SP?) he is here in Portland and I have met people who have used him and been impressed with his results. He has been doing Top Surgery for 19 years, does not have a very good website.

If I were you, I'd read up on the multiple accounts of Nguyen's lack of using adequate amounts of local during the in-office nipple resizing you spoke of.  There have been five or six accounts published online of patients that he has put through considerable and unnecessary pain.

Mister thanks I will definitely look at that for sure. I am going to move this over to my top surgery thread so I don't jack this one from Radar. Did you happen to find this all in one place where I should look, I have tried transster and nothing there now just doing general web browsing. I am not on any yahoo groups for top surgery maybe I will see if he has one.

I haven't researched top surgery in over two years.  Once it's done, it's done. :)

Mine is going to cost:

$ 3730 surgeon's fee
   1670 hospital fee
     675 anesthesia
_______
$ 6075

The cost of my surgery itself (surgeon's fee, anasthesia, and hospital's fee) will be $7300. My surgeon charges the same amount for a keyhole or a double incision (which I think is BS, but she is one of the best chest surgeons and the most keyhole-experienced surgeon in the USA, so I've got little choice but to cough it up). But the ACTUAL cost will be around $8100 because I'll have to pay to stay in the city for a week.

Petzjazz, other surgeons charge MORE for keyhole, not less. Sounds like you might be getting a better deal than you realize.
