Went to see the apartment last night......:S

So i'm moving today. The current tenit was to be out of that apartment by like 5 Yesterday. Adrian got off work at 9 and we drove all the way to the apartment to see if this person had left anything like furniture behind witch we were told she might. We walk in and notice she took the fridge and the stove!! she's moving in with her grandmother why did she take this. NOw we dont have one. ANd dont have any money to purchace one. I'm having major panic attacks because i dont know what to do!!! TO my astonishment when i went into the bathroom i noticed that SHE TOOK THE TOLIOT SEAT!!!!!!!

i'm freaking out. I have no idea where to get a fridge and a stove. I'm at a loss I have no idea what to do and i'm panicing big time. *breaths into a paper bag* (Unfortunatly it does say in our tennit agreement that the landlord will not provide us with a fridge or a stove BUT we said we wouldnt sign it unless he could assure us that this aparmtent had one. He said she was leaving it. We relaxed. I'm so stupid)

If it an apartment, is not the owner responsible to get you a fridge  and a stove?  The toilet seat should also be covered.  If they are not ask for a major discount, or six months free rent.

If you have to get your own.  Try refurbished appliances, or Sears, Lowe's even Home Depot.  Lowe's does have clearance models really cheap.

Something about the landlord's actions just seem suspicious from the start. Did the appliances belong to the previous tenant or did he provide them for her? If he made her buy her own, I can see her point in taking them with her. For him to make you sign something saying that he wouldn't have to provide them, it sounds to me like he already knew she was taking them and wanted to get out of his responsibility.

I would think that there should be some sort of legal protection that he has to provide you with certain basics that you need--like being able to prepare food.  Is there somewhere you can go to get some free legal advice? Landlords have certain legal requirements they have to meet on behalf of their tenants. He's obviously not doing this and knows it. The paper he had you sign might not even be something he can legally ask you to do. You have rights.

I'm sorry you're having such a horrible problem with this. I hope you can get it worked out and get what you need.

no matter what the lease agreement says, if your in any state in the USA, they are required to supply refrigerators, stoves,a nd all the basic things.  That is just law no matter what state you are in, if your outside of the USA though, I do not know, I just know US law.

Search online for where you live for leasing laws and the like, find info, consult a lawyer if the landlord won't supply those things.  If law says they have to provide it, then write an official statement, notarized to the landlord, that you will be withholding rent until such a time as your stove and refrigerator and the like are provided.

Yep, for an apartment, the stove at least is included. The manager may have some in storage to replace them.

Before you freak, talk to the manager. They may not even know this happened, for all you know, she may have stolen them.

Oh he knows alright. He said he MAY have a stove for me but he's not sure if it works >.< And I live in Ontario Canada. I'm not sure what the laws are i'm going to look it up. It should be the law :S i did however buy a very cool toilet seat LOL but i've been packing everything i can carry into the uhaul since adrian is at work. She's bringing a friend from work with her to help move the huge stuff. Man i'm beat.

yeah, do the research, i cant see as canada's laws on the matter are much different then ours, it should be covered (in theory).

I thought Canada was one of those countries where tenants often own and therefore take appliances with them when they move.

Other places in the world you even take the cabinets with when you leave. South America, Europe.

The appliances stay behind as a rule are way more of an American thing than many of us realize.

You might want to check out garage sales for the appliances. Craigslist is helpful for this sort of thing as well.

I read that in Germany the law says when you move, you have to remove your plumbing fixtures and take them with you. Anyone moving into a new place has to buy their own plumbing fixtures and have them installed first. What a pain in the rear! And this is considered normal? Crazy Germans. Apparently there are a whole lot of plumbing fixture stores over there.

Oh my! When we were going through stuff that she left last night she left a pack of womans razors, nobs for the cubbords in the kitchen. A closet thingy 2 small tv trays and 2 odd pink mats. She also took the little nob off the chain lock on the bacment. I still can't get over the toilot seat. Its just soo wierd. I just bought a cool one with butterflys on it for 12 bucks at walmart and i'm leaving it there when i move LOL.

Cuteist thing when we were moving at like 9pm last night with a huge uhaul. This little girl comes out of apartment 2 and askes if we are the new people moving in. (i was waiting on adrian to show up) i was like yep its me and my hubby (said hubby out of habit) and she's like "no kids" and she looked so hopefull! i was like "no i'm sorry no kids" she looks sad and is like "Thats okay." AWWW

We ended up leaving all of our stuff in the apartment and staying at adrians dad's place tonight just because her job is in this city and she's has to go in early. and we were to whiped to drive back lol. SO i'll be unpacking everything tonight and tomorrow. Hopefully i will be getting a fridge and stove from easy home for 22 bucks a week. Thats good since adrian gets paid weekely. Anyone else used easy home? Is it good? It looks okay to me but i'm desperate so anything looks good LOL

I wont have internet until thursday..how will i survive!!

You will probably be paying very high interest on your new fridge and stove.

Check thrift stores.  They often have appliances.  Probably better than renting a stove.

Well i'm moved into the new apartment and founds some problems today. There is some black mould spots in the bacement i dont know what to do about it. the people up stares in the other apartment think that the landlord wont do aynthing suposidly the previous tenit tried.

Also i saw i mouse yesterday >.< and there is like NO water pressure.

Document document document. photo photo photo. put stuff in writing. Start a paper trail with the landlord.

but im pretty sure even in canada if they don't fix mold they are in a heap of legal crap
