Michelle.

I've noticeded after shaving the pits that I my deodarant lives a slight burning sensation for the first day or so.

I moisturize after shaving, its not the problem.

I currently use an Old Spice product, I'm cheap and will probably use the whole thing inspite of the masculine scent.

But for the future, whats a good deodarant product?
I do tend to have sensitive skin.
Also switching to a more unisex scent is the best choice for
now.

Any advice would be most helpful.

Thanks...Michelle.

Are you on HRT? Because then the skin gets less coarse and more sensitive.

Michelle.

No, not yet.

I've also heard that its suggested to start electroysis/laser before HRT though for the percise reason that HRT makes the skin more sensitive.

If you shave your arm pits in the shower or with cream/gel it doesn't aggitate the skin as much. It depends on how long you have been shaving aswell though.

Also Old Spice is not really the best thing to use as it has a lot of alcohol content which causes the stinging.

So try senstive roll on deodrant. Sprays I used to find hurt alot more and where less effective to boot.

I switched from Old Spice, which is for men, to Lady Speed Stick before I started full time.  Same protection but a nice scent.  And it is for women.  :D

When I started HRT one of the first things I noticed was a change in my corporal odor. Not only that but I had an annoying problem with my armpit's sweat and smell (part of how my body reacts to hormones)

So, then later I started using a deodorant that was more fit to the PH? of that area.

And yes, with estrogen your skin gets more sensitive. Mostly because its thinner now.

I noticed the same thing with men's deodorant the first time I shaved my underarms. Now I use women's (a gel from Mitchum) and I have no problem at all. Also, it smells nicer, not that "check out my incredible manliness" scent that men's deodorant has. Make the switch. You'll be happier if you do.

This is just wonderful, my favourite by miles and very sexy >:-)

CK in2u Her Deodorant. It's a non aerosol spray which is healthier I guess?

Thank you very much for the advice.

Survey says "dump the Old Spice."

Yeah, y'all are correct.

Imaz, hon, the link to that scent is wonderful. I can all but smell that fragrance from the ingredients listing, michelle likey.

Thanks again.

I'm bad.

Double posting in my own thread. Oh well, here goes.

The non-spray is healthier in the sense that you arent inhaling while applying.

That stinging snesation is most likely the high alcohol content of the "old stuff." I checked out the back of the thing after my firsst post.

A final medical note. I avoid anti-perspirant because the body absorbs the, aluminum sulfates?, active chemical. And secondly the good Lord gave us sweat glands for a reason.. too keep cool in hot weather.

Underarm sweat has little to do with temperature regulation (I have plenty of surface area in more exposed extremities for that), and aluminum is hardly toxic. If it were, I'd probably worry more about the aluminum pots I use to cook pasta and rice. That's why I don't use lead pots!
