Yes folks, that's about the consequences of SRS.
In the first year you'll spend about 400 hours dilating.
That includes all the time setting up and cleaning up.

Still, I'm sure that this little factoid doesn't scare anyone. >:-)

Intercourse doesn't count as dilation? I'dve thought it would.
Nero was the Forum Admin here at Susan's Place for several years up to the time of his death.

You forgot to say if it was worth it.

Those numbers are based on a 4x dilation schedule.  Dr. McGinn specifies a 6x dilation schedule initially so it may be even longer for some!

It's referred to as organic dilation.  And yes, it *does* count.

And yes, it is worth it!

Scares the heck out of me, thanks... but then, I don't really have to worry about it. In life, you do what you do, and if it's worth it, more power.

Oh wow and I couldn't even manage the commitment to keep the piercings in my ears open.

I would so not be good as MtF. Thank god FtM requires less maintenance (although it's becoming obvious that I am a sloppy shaver, but that's ok for a guy)

Very much looking forward to it.  Bring it on.

Errgh... Is it painful?
Just a pain in the rear to dedicate the hours every day (and clean-up afterwards)

* Flan says bring it on
(that's a hint to something, and I'll leave it at that)
Soft kitty, warm kitty, little ball of fur. Happy kitty, sleepy kitty, purr, purr, purr.

FIGHT APATHY!, or don't...

My hole life is around the dilations but I had the surgery just recently.  :)

Yeah, you'll be a slave to your dilation schedule for the first few months, but then it will start to lighten up.

I still do it with a certain reverence, much like my estrodial injections.

Attitude is everything.  When it goes south dilation becomes a real pain, kinda of like it is for me right now.  And then there's the physical pain.  It's not so much pain but it can be very uncomfortable.  I'm in month two and doing #2 & #3.  Since losing depth is permanent, I make sure I insert the dilators all the way and even give them a bit of a push once they bottom out.   Ya tend to get a bit sore doing that.

But no doubt, dilation is the worst part of this whole thing.  I can deal with the pain & discomfort but having to go to the "dilation station" several times a day can really put a damper on your plans.  I'll be so happy when I'm at once a week.

Strange, since I have heard some say they were told they could expect to gain 1/2in through dilation.

Before we left Montreal, Brassard told me to expect to lose a bit of depth.  He said that's natural.

I can't say if it was the reduction of swelling or a loss of depth through the healing process but I cannot insert the dilators as deep as I could when I first started dilating.  I was probably 6" or more initially but now struggle to make 5-1/2".  My GF says she is deeper than she was after surgery.  Who knows?

Based upon the description of how the surgery is done, one would have to stretch the new vaginal cavity to make it deeper.  There are no stitches at the end of the cavity, only on the sides.  So you would have to push the dilator and stretch out the skin to make the cavity deeper.

What I do know is there is no pleasure in dilation, at least not up to this point.  I feel like a hooker who is trying to set a screw record.  In other words, I'm sore... not to mention desensitized.

If I am coming across as being negative about dilating...   :icon_chainsaw:

Sorry to hear this Julie, but I'm sure it's going to be worth it once everything settles in.  :icon_hug:

I did gain a little bit, but I don't think it was quite that much.  I felt that I was stretching the tissue that was in place.  Also, I too, was told that width steals from depth and that as I proceeded to use the larger dilators, that I might lose some depth.  That was true, but I don't remember it as being that much.

Also, you may notice that it seems that you cannot insert it as deep, but it just means that there is less swollen tissue.

Regardless, it seems like you have quite adequate depth.  Anything greater than 4.5 to 5 inches depth is deeper than a cis-gendered woman.

Yes, the dilation routine is hardly pleasurable early on.  And it can seem like such a drudge.  Though in time...
