A new dance show presents tongue-in-cheek look at the cultural reality of modern-day Polynesia.

When Polynesian dancers Efeso Fa'anana and Lisa Fa'alafi formed Polytoxic in 2000, it was about filling a void in the Australian dance world.

"We realised there was no real place for us to fit," Fa'anana tells SX. "Having a football player's build with size 13 flat feet, there was no way I could have trained with a classical ballet company.
