This is an interesting subject. Something that I've been curious about for awhile also  :icon_chick:

I think you should just stick to your chosen surgeon's advice on how much dilation you require. At the end of the day, everyone is different, surgeons study for years to be able to practice surgery and they may perform different techniques so it really does depend on what he/she has to say.
