I'm Andrea. I'm an MTF transsexual, and I'm currently in the VERY beginning stages of my transition. I'm not on hormones, I don't wear make-up, my own family doesn't even know. I'm totally lost, and totally scared. Any advice that any of you could give would be DEEPLY appreciated.

Well, you're in the right place. I think you'll find a lot of people here that started out the same as you.

And, welcome to susans!

Hey hun and welcome to Susan's.
You might want to take a little look around and read some threads in the "coming out of the closet" section, and get some ideas.

Couple things to keep in mind on your journey...

* Dont rush it, take your time. The answers may be found here, but only you can make the decisions and know whats right for you.

* Dont do anything outside of your comfort zone. Kind of goes with #1, but too many rush into what they think they have to do before they are ready.

* Dont be afraid to ask questions, but with your post I here I suspect you will have that one covered!

Welcome!

Hi, Andrea. Sorry to hear that you feel lost at this time. I'm certainly no expert myself but my #1 suggestion for what it is worth would be to take your time with this. It is easier said than done because we all want issues to be settled as quickly as possible but for an issue like this we are talking potentially changing the course of one's entire life.

I'm not 100% sure myself if I even am transsexual but at the very least I feel strongly female although I ususally present as male. It is important to walk the path slowly but surely to make sure that you do get to where you want to be in life but not so hasty that you make decisions you may regret but not so slow that you feel like you have wasted time. The more you can experiement little by little the more you have time to collect and always re-evaluate your thoughts. So far I have been experiemnting by presenting as female (with a female name, clothes, make-up, etc.) at trans-friendly nightclubs but I am not ready myself to make the total leap to full-time life as a girl. Good luck and please share more so that others can better be able to answer your questions.

Hi Andrea, :icon_wave:

Welcome to our little family. Over 2230 strong.  That would be one heck of a family reunion.
Feel free to post your successes/failures, Hopes/dreams.  Ask questions and seek answers.  Give and receive advice.

But remember we are family here, your family now.  And it is always nice to have another sister. :icon_hug:

And be sure to check out

Andrea,

As ironic as this may seem, you're very much normal. :-)

So many of us start out scared, lost, confused, and weary. We find our way though, and eventually, things get better. It may not happen tomorrow or the next day, but eventually, everything "gels" together. We look back at everything we've overcome to transition and feel pride that we made it through.

Hang in there, babe. It's not an easy journey, but there are some incredibly amazing moments along the way.

Welcome!

*hugs*

Thank you all for making me feel so welcome! Finally, a place where I can express my true self. Being a 19 year old tgirl in Maine is not easy. But it looks like this place might help me out a bit. ^_^

Maine, eh? I'm a few states south of you. I'm in PA (see: Pennsyltucky).

I'm also not too far off in age. I'm 24.

I started dealing with my gender issues at your age.

*big hugs*

Welcome, again!

Hi Andrea

A forum like this can answer absolutely many of your questions. Besides, one also has to get to know the possibility nice people.
An other very good help are self-help groups.

At my time - at that time from 1978 - in 1996 - before the outing there was none of these possibilities - this WEAVE is here absolutely from very big advantage.

Simply get into the forum and put your questions............and you will see a lot of positve........

I really appreciate the fact that you're all willing to help. Maybe someone could answer this about this site. How do you edit your profile? It's driving me crazy! I checked the help section and, despite it's name, it was no help. >:(  I can't find any links for it. Only for my password and stuff. Aaargh!! Please help! ???

Hi Andrea,
You need 15 posts before you can change the profile. And Susan doesn't  like them to be totally trivial. But it will happen soon enough. You probably have lots of questions and do join in the discussions. And do read the rules.

Nearish to the top of the screen, there's a dark blue bar with

Home/Help/Search/Profile/MyMessages etc etc

Click profile. Then click the next tab that says Modify

Oh, woops. :embarrassed:

I skimmed through the rules while signing up for the site. I must've missed that part. Thanks, though. That was driving me insane! lol

the very first thing you need to do is find a gender therapist in your area and "talk"!! she/he will help you plan your new life. and this "new life". you will be starting all over, but you will love it.

one more thing sweety.........welcomr to the family, there are so many of us now that we can always find encouragement or a sholder to cry on. so go find that therapist :icon_hug:

hehehe... Pennsylvania...

Depending on where you are in the state, it's very Pennsyltucky-esque.
