Evan

Hello everyone. I've been checking out this site for the last week, and thought it was about time to sign up and introduce myself. I don't know how much information is usually put in these things, so please work with me because I tend to ramble.

I'm currently 23 years old, and have been living/out as FTM for about the last year. It's been a tough but rewarding year so far. I have lost my ex fiancee, but have gained a better relationship with my mother. Poor woman, I've put her through more than I'm sure she thought even I could come up with. I still have a few things up my sleeve though, I'm waiting to see how the "Mom I'm a bisexual male" conversation goes...

This year has also brought an unfortunate end to my dreams of being in the military, but I'm trying to see life as one door closing and another opening. I hope to join the local sheriffs office after I fully transition, so I'm looking into getting a degree in the mean time. Don't know how that will work out, but hopefully for the best. Even though I live in a big city, I've been having problems finding doctors that I'm comfortable with so right now I'm pre everything. Anyone that can help me find everything from a GP and up in the Ft Lauderdale/Miami area I would greatly appreciate it. Maybe I just haven't looked hard enough. I'm lucky that I suffer from a condition that causes facial hair growth, as well as infrequent menstration, and coarser hair. So the prolonged search hasn't driven me crazy, yet. I've been able to pass since before I even wanted to do so, and I think that's helped me immensly with getting to where I am today. Though how someone would think that my mother would name her son April is beyond me. I guess people see what is easiest for them.

Hopefully I can come out of my shell enough to meet some people on here, from what I've read so far everyone seems pretty nice.

Welcome Evan!
Check out the forums the FTM one is not very active, well not as active as others, so don't limit yourself to that section.
Cheers

Michelle.

Hey Evan.

I live in the West Palm area. A bit too far north to help out with GP's and other Doc type stuff. However the Wiki here might give you some avenues to explore.

Also a Dr. Reed does SRS in the Miami area, srsmiami.com I believe he performs surgery on F2Ms. However I would imagine that his office has a list of local "friendly" Doctors.

Hope the above help...

Hi Evan
My name is ShawnI live in the Pompano area and there is a list of trans freindly doctors but I can not rember which site it is on if I find it I will forward. I see Dr Polakoff in Oakland Park he does have a few trans patients FTM and MTF see Lori if you go she is his PA and great and Dr Garramone is an excellent surgeron for top surgery. He did reconstruction on me a few months back from surgery I had 25yrs ago. Hope this helps
