Drinking from plastic bottles increases people's exposure to a gender-bending chemical, a new study suggests.

Scientists have demonstrated for the first time that polycarbonate containers release the chemical bisphenol A (BPA) into liquid stored in them.

BPA has been shown to interfere with reproductive development in animals and has been linked with cardiovascular disease and diabetes in humans.

Not to mention that throwing away all those little plastic bottle is the equivalent of have unprotected anal sex with the planet without lube?

Number of plastic water bottles disposed of per day in the US = 60,000,000 or 22,000,000,000 per year.

In many places recycling makes no economic sense. Most do not recycle plastic. Glass had a much better response. Not all plastic bottles contain BPA. Plastic is not a good human choice for any food storage.

We always recycle ours.  Never thrown them into a landfill.  But hey, if they really bend gender, I may have to come up with a great sauce to go on top of them.

For some reason it does not make sense. If I drink from a plastic bottle then I will have an urge to dash out and buy more panty hose? I was going to buy the hose anyway.

Of course yes. We recycle here like mad. Anything and everything! Its a shame that they only introduced recycling bins about a year ago here.. But at least we have them!

Lisa is right about recycling - for the most part its feel good stuff, with a high energy footprint and low returns, when the best course of action would be to not make it or use it in the first place.
