A transgender cab driver working in Leyland says her employers sacked her for wearing nail polish and a skirt.

Andre Edwards, who was born a man but now lives as a woman, claims she lost her job at Leyland Taxis because her employers and clients couldn't deal with her unorthodox lifestyle.

And I'd be happy in SF if I had a taxi driver who
a) spoke English
b) didn't need directions to get me where I'm going

I can smell a lawsuit...

QuoteBosses at the firm say she was dismissed after four months because of customer complaints about her 'bad attitude' including making comments about their hair and weight.

Seems as though she isn't the nicest person!

Heres more from the link

Phil Briggs, owner of Leyland Taxis, said he was forced to sack Andre after issuing her with numerous complaints about her attitude towards other staff and clients.

He said: "My philosophy is that you have always got to give someone a chance in life. Andre came to us after another firm said they didn't want to know.

"It has nothing to do with appearance or lifestyle, but after a great deal of complaints from members of the public and staff, I had to explain that we had to let her go. She upset a number of staff with comments about their weight and I had complaints from customers saying her attitude towards the public was appalling."

Mr Briggs said he first gave Andre a warning on February 16 after receiving three complaints from female members of staff. One employee said Andre called her haircut 'dreadful', while another complained about comments about her weight.

If Mr. Briggs documented these incidents than I for one agree with the OWNER of his own business.

Exactly.. female or male you can't go around acting like that when you are representing a firm/company. Professional at all times.

There often is a feeling that if a TG employee gets fired its because of the TG, and not because they suck at what they do.  Comments like that will get just about anyone fired in any public interface job.

Seems to me a lot of people who belong in any "minority" are quick to blame that minority status for everything bad that happens in their lives...
Human beings just don't really like having to take responsibility for their own actions as a whole.
