So I mentioned how I wanted to wear the compression shirt so I can try out being a guy and my mom wont let me. I told her shes not letting me express myself and she replied saying I don't know who I am and i don't even know how to brush my hair. She went on to say I can never be male because I don't have the characteristics. I told her it doesn't matter but she only said "Okay, you can be a boy after Im dead."

A lot of people (including myself) go through these issues. In the end, you just have to do what you think is right irregardless of what others think.

If someone can't accept you for you are instead of who they want you to be, are you really going to let them control you?

Sorry, but merely binding doesn't let you "try out being a guy."  It lets you try out being the same person, in the same life, with the same voice, body shape, getting treated the same way by the same people- just with a flatter chest.  That's more like trying out a breast reduction.

Well, it was worth a shot!

Look, I normally don't condone outright rebellion to the hand that feeds you, and I always advocate trying to find a solution by talking it out first, but I think everyone has the right to try on any sort of clothing they like (so long as it covers their umm.. "naughty bits" in public, of course ;)). And that's all it really is when it comes down to it.

You could say I'm chaotic good :D

If she's grabbed the compression shirt and won't give it back, then you might have to go with another plan.

You could try a "Frog Bra". True, not as good as a binder - but it is technically still a bra... so she shouldn't go nuts at that. They're made by a company called Title Nine. If you can't go online to get it, try large department stores.

Control top pantyhose (Again, something you can buy without your Mom freaking out because it's a "girl" thing) can be cut into a home made (but weak) chest restrainer. Turn it upside down, cut the legs off and the crotch out. It should be shaped like a very small singlet. Again, not very good - but better than nothing. Team it up with a skin tight singlet or the previously mentioned frog bra, perhaps double it over, and you might be getting somewhere.

They are your safest bet for homemade solutions that aren't going to weird your Mom out if she finds them. Just dry the pantyhose in your room.

Stay far, far, away from compression bandages and all forms of tape.

I shouldn't have to tell you this, but don't bind in front of your mom or she's going want to grab whatever you're binding with. If you're going to bind in public, then take your "stuff" with you and do it when you're out.

(Why do I suddenly feel like the bad uncle that teaches you how to smoke behind the shed without being caught? )

Mister is right in that binding won't make you pass or give you "the full guy experiance" (tm)... but hey - you've gotta start finding out about yourself somehow. Don't expect to pass at all. Use it as a tool to learn about yourself, and with what you feel comfortable. Figure yourself out, THEN worry about passing.
