Newman Hall, a Catholic church in Berkeley, has created a Lesbian, Gay, Transsexual and Bisexual Group to support Catholic members.

"We strive to be a welcome and open community for all Catholics to come and worship," said Charlie Donahue, a priest at Newman Hall.

But Donahue said Newman would not conduct a same-sex wedding or sanction formal same-sex unions.
