Does anyone read their horoscope?

Do you believe in them?

Have they ever been correct??

I got up late this morning and came down stairs for a coffee, having been out and picked up a paper and the weekend magazine. This was added to my pile of weekly womans magazines.

I read through them all and came away kinda scared.... three weeklies and the weekend magazine had very similar horoscopes...

The thread that run through them was very worrying... My weeks horoscopes are as follows:

General ... This week a secret about your past will be revealed by one of your close friends, how you handle the fall out is important!

Love .... You have a difficult decision to make, regarding a partner or lover, do you tell them the truth?

Work.... A business deal goes wrong because of past issues in your life.

Gulp...

So does anyone believe in horoscopes?, do I have to spend all week in bed? not answer the phone, don't answer e-mails?

Yikes, that sounds pretty scary.  At least you are aware and can prepare in case something does happen.

Buffy,

Nope.  Sorry.  It's all fun, but I place my trust in hard data.

I agree with Chaunte!  they are fun to read, but I don't believe in them either!  Someone told me once that you can make anything happen by suggestion; therefore, I think this could apply here...if you believe in them, they can become true...but it is all up to you!

The only time my horror scope has been right is when its specific for me... aka bassed on my exact birthday... and even then its kinda sketchy.... just depends on your perspective....  I dont give those general ones a second thought.... only read them for entertainment.

There was a television program several years ago on horoscopes.

In a psychology class, everyone was given a horospe reading.  They were told it was based on their exact date of birth and were instructed to read it silently.  A number of students gasped in surprise.  There were numerous mutterings of, "That's so true!" and "That happened!"

After a few minutes, the class was told to exchange the horoscopes.  Even more gasps.

They were all identical.  Everyone read in them exactly what they wanted to read in them.

That's kind of like Tarot cards.  They are only a tool to help you figure out what you already know.

The creepiest thing..... about 2 1/2 maby 3 years ago my so called best friend and I were hanging out at a bar and this older woman comes up to us and asks if she can sit at our table......  we get to chatting and she tells us that shes a palm reader....

She does my best friend first and she is hitting on every single point with near deadly accuracy and he snaps his hand away and she keeps on going till he desids to make his swift escape....  Hes a hard core cathlioc and that just wasnt natural......

She looked at me next and same thing... near deadly accuracy.... well as accurate as you can be with out actualy knowing the names of people heh....  she was also the first person to out my being TS... I hadnt even fully accepted it at that point yet.... I knew but I didnt accept.... That was a truely wierd and frightning experiance... and she was pretty much right about what would happen afterwards....*shakes her head*

I put no stock in them at all.....you can sit around all day and relate aspects of your life to the generalizations in horoscopes but that doesn't give them any validity.

Fear not Buffy  :)

I was wondering why you didn't answer my Email.... LOL  :P

Since the whole horoscope thang was established hundreds of years ago, the constellations in which the sun resides for specific dates has shifted by about 6 weeks.  So, if this "science" had any validity to it, wouldn't you think that they would at least use the correct constellations?

There's my two cents.

Mine have never been right when they contained uplifting news, so why would less than thrilling news be any different ;)

(= be careful what you let happen..

Lynn,
People who are good at reading palms are good at reading the whole body - its amazing what can be given away by somebody who is skilled at questioning and is holding ones hand & can feel every little movement & tremor.  Its amazing what the state of ones hands can tell about a person.
What was the condition of your nails :)  chewed & bitten - more likely clean & shaped & polished - you were like an open book to her Lynn :)
As for horoscopes - anybody read about the "Mars effect" (check it out on a search engine) appears there is somthing in it - and if that is the case maybe there IS somthing in horoscopes :)

Lastly whatever is a "hard core" Catholic you have to explain this Lynn - I keep getting these mental images & they are worrying me.

Rana
Catholic herself & proud of it - thou with me its most probably the "Less of a religion more of a way of life type thing :)

Hi Buffy,

no, I do not believe in horoscopes, but it something that sometimes I like to read. Anyway  It seems to me very strange that people sharing the same zodiacal sign have similar pecularities, but many friends say that I show the typical traits of my sign.
I wonder if now that Pluto is no longer a planet will change out horoscopes.

I like to read them the day after, just to see how close they got.   ;D

Heh... my wife just sent me HER horoscope for today... she seemed to find it amusing:

Matters close to home keep you occupied right now, whether you're changing your living space or dealing with a family member's transformation. Don't overreact -- just let the facts speak for themselves.

eep Buffy!

i think there used to be partial truth in them, but now i think the magazines just base them on some statistical populus knowledge of averages and hope they hit the target with the majority of their readers. do they even look at the stars anymore? :(

btw WOW at the palm reader Lynn - that sorta stuff has always intrigued me, like its some form of lost science unknown to todays analytical data-driven logic.

Lost science hey
Probably originated in Atlantis :)

OMG  here we go...my horoscope...geez....what will the future hold for me :P

"Capricorn December 22 - January 19
For Tuesday, November 7 -Your recent efforts to connect with someone are working, but you should think about turning down the heat a little. Discard the extra details in your stories, and resist the urge to share too much about yourself. Right now, this discovery phase should be simple, short and general. Too many details could confuse or overwhelm, and they may cause some unfortunate misperceptions. Let the other person ask a few questions -- don't do all the work yourself".

...Oh the other person has asked way too many questions already, now it is my turn.  I know that my efforts are working....I can see them happening right before my eyes.  Details in my stories?  *giggles*  I never give details of anything.  Simple, short, and general....perfect words for what it was! >:D >:D

OMG  this is sooooooooo true!  LOL  LOL ;)
