If you or someone you know makes that call to your NY state senator please ask them to pass S2406, the Gender Expression Nondiscrimination Act (GENDA) first or concurrently with the marriage equality bill.  Sexual orientation is already coverd in New York's nondiscrimination law but trans people aren't.  I fear, if marriage equality is passed before GENDA, that gender varaint people will never get state level nondiscrimination law inclusion in New York.
