5 things I love about being trans

Instead, I decided to take my own advice about what to do when they hate you. And I decided that I was going to focus on what I love about being trans.

And so, without further ado, here are five things I love about it:

1. I'm a guy, but I don't have to wear a tie. Some transguys love wearing a tie. It's a very masculine personal expression. In my case, I have a short, skinny little neck, and I end up looking like a turtle, not to mention feeling as if I'm choking to death. Plus, I'm left-handed, so I never quite learned how to follow the directions in my men's dress-for-success manuals. So I simply don't wear one. Hey, I'm trans--I don't have to conform to society's gender norms. What do I wear to weddings and funerals? Black.

I could probably come up with more than five. I agree 100% with two thru five. #1? My male persona avoids ties like the bubonic plague. A necktie is some sort self torture and I'm not into S&M.

If the tie makes you feel like you're choking then its not the tie, you need the right size shirt collar.
