Brooklyn Pride

This Saturday June 13th is Brooklyn Pride in Brooklyn NY. This will be my third year attending. Each year it rains but it may not this time. At night there will be a dyke motorcycle parade.

This takes place at Prospect Park and Bartel Pritchard Circle, Prospect Park West and 15th Street.

I attended my third Brooklyn Pride on Saturday. It was the first time I went dressed. I wore blue flats, a black skirt, and aqua blue v-neck pullover. I wore an aqua necklace and bracelet. It was an overcast day.

I came up out of the train station and walked across the street. In the square across from where I was were some protesters. I walked up the street visiting various booths. There was a marriage equality group, anti-violence groups, and a table from the community center in the city. I signed up to receive email from folks who are looking to purchase a building. Brooklyn is the only borough (there are five) which doesn't have a community center. I find this surprising what with the large gay and lesbian population here.

As far as I saw I was the only crossdresser there. I bumped to a friend from the bible fellowship group. We were supposed to meet up later but I never could locate him.  There were a number of churches represented. They are affirming churches who have become more visible in the past couple of years.

The event is six blocks long and lot of people do come. I would love to see Brooklyn Pride grow so I'm looking into possibly volunteering for some group.
