Jamison Green transitioned from female to male just before his 40th birthday.

Welcome, Chaz!

Before the word "transsexual" had been coined in English, an intrepid young person whose family belonged to the British nobility set out to transform herself from female to male. He received a medical school education, obtained hormones -- relatively new substances that were poorly understood at the time, and independently began living as a man in the early 1940s.

Eventually, he found a plastic surgeon to help him, and his physical changes were complete by 1949, but his family rejected him. The British tabloids hounded him. To escape publicity, he was forced to carve out a life for himself virtually alone. He became a Buddhist monk, and died in Tibet in 1962 at the age of 47.

I have been seeing things all over the airwaves about Chaz.  Maybe it is a good thing that he is well known enough to show that we are not the monsters people think we are.

Also, to me at least.  A FTM is viewed a bit more seriously by the media.  There isn't the "RuPaul" effect of making it a sensationalized item of a guy-in-a-dress.

I wonder if the Largo Florida/Stanton crap would have been as vocal if it had been a FTM instead of a MTF?

Would there have been ->-bleeped-<- bible "scholars" claiming to be able to cure their transsexuality simply by reading from scripture?  Would they have been on Larry King?  Would the HRC have tried to entice them to become a spokesperson?

Would it have even been more of a two-day story?

I wish you all the best, Chaz!  You're a brave man, be true to yourself.
