I LOVE video games. I like games in any genre. I have a PS2, DS, 360, and a wii. I've been playing since I was a little kid. For awhile, i even wanted to work in the video game industry. They're just so fun!!

I used to like video games, but in the last several years I have developed a tendency to get motion sick when I play them.   :(  I think the last video game I really enjoyed was Doom 3.  Yeah, it's been a while.  :-\

Is it only 1st person games that make you motion sick? Or all of them? I know a few people who can't play first person shooters because it makes them feel sick.

Yeah, it's the first person ones - which is most of them these days.  ::)  I didn't have that trouble back in the olden days when each time you turned you got a different static shot.  (Turn east, you get one view, turn north you get another, etc.)  But once they started making the scenery slide by as you turned, I just couldn't play any more.   :-\  So these days I mostly play puzzle games, and the odd old-school RPG or mystery game,  when I can find one that will run on Vista or XP.

But what is the fun in video games? I tried once but got so frustrated I gave up. OK, I'm in an age group that didn't grow with them, but so is Janet (sorry dear :-*) and she plays them.
I suppose what I'm after is what do you get out of them? Obviously fun but in what way.
Sorry to sound stupid. Actually I'm use to it

ugh...I just got un-addicted to World of Warcraft.  I ended up using 9 accounts at the same time (multiboxing). About a month ago I suddenly realized my life was pretty much passing me by.  I didn't create any art or music for a year and a half! I finally quit and have no withdrawals!  yay for me!

Games can be immersive and engaging interactive stories.  They can be fairly mindless time wasters.  Some give people a way to escape reality for a little while or a chance to be someone or something else in their mind.  Some can be played competitively against other people, some can be played cooperatively with other people.

Games can also give someone a sense of accomplishment or achievement, and even though it's completely trivial, that's something that can make people feel good.  Did I think I accomplished something by playing Portal?  Of course not, but it was a fun!

I played WoW for awhile, but I finally got bored after most of my friends stopped playing too.  I used to be into FPS games a lot, but lately I've moved away from shooters and have been playing strategy & puzzle-type games.  Mirrors Edge was the last game I bought and it was great.  It combined FPS-style action but was at its core a puzzle game.  I spent most of my time in the non-combat levels just jumping from place to place trying to beat my last time.  I can't say there are that many games that I'm excited about coming out soon, hopefully something will pick up my interest again.

I think games should catch up to their real story telling potential soon.  The technology is getting better, hopefully game developers realize they're making games instead of movies.  If they start treating their creative process that way we should start seeing much more involved stories driven by player actions, instead of game play that has to coax players along set paths until the ending.

It depends upon the game.  In RPGs, for me at least, I get cought up in exploring another world.  I want to know what's behind that locked door, or on the other side of that river that I haven't figured out yet how to cross, etc.  There is also the mental challenge of figuring out ways around obstacles.  Shooters and old-fashioned arcade games are really about the challenge of seeing how many levels you can beat.  I used to get really frustrated with those back in the joystick days.  Never could get the hang of those stupid things.  Puzzle games are, obviously, about the mental challenge of the puzzle.  And then there are games like Chuzzle which are 3/4 about shutting down all but the analytical part of your brain and zoning out, and 1/4 about sadistically annoying those cute little fuzzy guys.  ;)

I love games. My favorites of all time would be TES III: Morrowind (most immersive game ever, especially modded), Shenmue 1 & 2, Mass Effect, Counter Strike and cs:s, Sims 2, and Final Fantasy 7.

Lately I've been revisiting old Squaresoft games, right now I'm playing thru Final Fantasy V. FF7 is the only one I've beaten, but I wanna beat all of them, as well as Saga Frontier.

For awhile I hardly played any games, mostly just building a town in Sims 2, and Simcity 4. But now that I'm less depressed I feel like broadening my horizons :D

I love all sorts of PC games. Some notable favorites over the years have been (in no particular order) Daggerfall, Company of Heroes, EQ, WoW(but less than EQ), SWG(pre nerfs), City of Villains/Heroes, Shooters like Doom, Quake, mods for them, and a slew of others like RTS and such.

I think playing them has helped me cope with my gender issues somewhat. All of my characters have been female. It's my alternate identity I guess. I recycle one name in particular but it would be impracticle to use as a girls name in real life sadly. Hmm, maybe a merge of it and my name....

Hahaha! Video games has become so big all around the world haven't day? I still remember the day my dad brought home an old school atari system and I was super excited! Then after that the NES and it just took off from there...

I play all kinds of games though! They have always been apart of my life and I don't expect that to change any time soon. My favorite game genres though would have to be RPGs, FPS, Action/Adventure, and probably simulation and Fighting.

I've been all about Gears of War 2 recently, even though I'm not really into the uber-violent stuff anymore.  The environments are just so big and beautiful that I have to stop and look around.  I mean, yeah, I just got done punching holes into a pack of monsters, but look at all the neat flora in this cave!!  ;D

I play video games on my PS3 and iMac.  I should say game as the only one I play is the CoD series.  I'm currently playing CoD4 Modern Warfare.  I'm not very good, I usually find myself at the bottom of the standings :( but it's fun all the same.

My man has been playing World of Warcraft for the past 2 years or so and he's quite good.

We have a 360, PS3, PS2, Wii (and consequentially games for GameCube and NES), N64, DS Lite, GameBoy Color, GameBoy Advance... Hmm... And probably other things I'm forgetting.  I have a nice little Macbook that plays many computer games for me, very well.  I like some pretty cheesy games, sometimes.  Harvest Moon.  I always feel really bad about that one.  Other than that, I tend to like Sims games, Zelda games, RPG like WoW, Fable, Fallout, Oblivion (and the others of the series)... Etcetera.  Really enjoy blowing up ghouls in Fallout 3.  Plus it's an RPG so my character always looks awesome.

(I should also mention that all of my characters have been male.)

Most of my favorite games are developed by Japanese publishers; The Chrono series, We Love Katamari, Shadow of the Colossus, and Metal Gear. Not to mention I play a mean Pikachu at Smash Bros (any of 'em) :3
