Has anyone come acroos any good or semi valid tests or surveys? I have taken a few The Cogiati seems to be popular but it seems to be severely flawed ( I don't see how the ability to park a car or do basic math has anything to do with whether you are a woman or not) Hope to hear from someone I am fairly new to this site but everyone has been so helpfull/ Darla

I think that many will agree with me that while the test are fun and entertaining they should not be taken seriously.  One of the biggest flaws with these tests is that you know before hand what the test will determine based on your response.  Therefore consciously or unconsciously you can sway the results one way or the other.  The test would be maybe more valid if you didn't know what the results would be used to determine.  Also theoretically taking the test over and over should produce the same result but it doesn't.  Generally speaking I would have to say that people know what they are they don't need tests to validate themselves.

Hello Darla:

I took the cogiati when I started therapy.  If I am not mistaken, my score was something between 250 and 270 = probable transsexual....uh huh!!!
Well, this test result did not convey in any way my feelings of gender incongruity; it just gave me a probable result     So if I were you, I wouldn't really care too much about taking the results of any gender test seriously.  None of those tests is a diagnosis for transsexualism, so the best way to deal with your feelings is to visit a gender therapist to help you explore your options.
If you check the MTF page, you'll see many so called gender tests which I posted myself...they're there just for fun, so don't worry if the score you get does not measure up with what you feel you are.

You could always take the Bem Inventory... it was designed back in, I think, the 60s, in an effort to show how androgynous people were or weren't. It consists of 60 adjectives--- 20 masculine, 20 feminine, and 20 neutral--- and you rate yourself on how strongly each characterizes you. However, there's always the classic dilemma that those adjectives were subjectively assigned to be either masculine or feminine by the people of that time, and gender norms are constantly changing.

Oh, and as an FtM, I couldn't take the cogiati, but have heard of it.

there are a number of silly fun tests to check if you are Male or female
the serious type tests should really have at the end a question asking how you felt about the result that is what seems to be more telling "yep" that sounds right or I agree with that but not this
I've just found the Sex And Gender Explorer (S.A.G.E) test which doesn't include androgyne as a gender identity but it did say I had androgynous brain processes.
this test looks like it could be use for MtF and Ftm people
