Anti-Gay Group Targets LGBT Prom and Exploits Youth.

June 30, 2009 by Brendan Davis, Intern @ GLAAD

LGBT youth proms like the one that BAGLY (Boston Alliance of Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual & Transgender Youth) hosts annually in Boston, MA give young members of the LGBT community an opportunity to participate in and enjoy high school prom in a safe and supportive environment that affirms who they are.

On May 9, 2009, MassResistance, an anti-gay group self described as "a pro-family action center" sent a 20-year-old referred to only as "Max" to infiltrate the BAGLY prom. When he returned, he wrote a report about the prom on the group's website that was picked up by WorldNetDaily staff writer Chelsea Schilling. She wrote about the event and Max's report in her article "Kids attend prom from 'sexual hell'".

Proms need to die.  Period.  Whoever wants to kill them is pretty much my pal.
FIGHT APATHY!, or don't...

Mass Resistance are a sick, sick bunch of people.
All changes, even the most longed for, have their melancholy; for what we leave behind us is a part of ourselves; we must die to one life before we can enter another.

I don't think that MassResistance is out to kill all proms, dear. (Must I bring out that belt again?)  I believe that their objection is to "homosexual" proms only.

Agreed, and they certainly are not likely to add tekla as a "friend" on Facebook, even if tekla had an account there.

And if I did, the only friend I'd have would be "Tom"  he is the best friend I've ever had.  I don't need any other friends.

You win again, pardna. No way I am even asking who or what Tom is.

I think its the "my space" friend.  Not that I'd know.  If it takes 'friends' then its pretty much counting me out to begin with, 'ya know.

Any reason you are trying to derail a thread to off-topic? The topic was about an anti-gay group infiltrating a GLBT prom for the purposes of giving it negative exposure to further its agenda. While I find the actions of such group disturbing, I don't see them making much success. People are moving in the direction of being GLBT-friendly and educating themselves on such issues vs. moving the opposite way. While I find many of the news topics and discussions on this board interesting, I don't find it interesting to read nonsensical responses to them that have nothing to do with the topic. Do you have anything to add on the topic that critiques the issue at hand?
