Does anyone else get this and is there anything you can do about it?

I want to get a STP from FTM Solutions, but I've found that as soon as my hands get anywhere near that area I can't pee. I keep trying to stand up and pee in the shower, but I just get shy bladder and can't even try it!

I don't want to waste $60 on an STP and harness that I can't use!

Thanks

I had that trouble when it came to using an STP while dressed.  I couldn't get over the thought that I was going to pee my pants.  :-\  The thing that finally worked for me was to put my hand in a sink full of warm water.  'Course, if you can't even in the shower, that might not help.  Another thing to do is try to think about something else.  I used to read comics in the bathroom all the time, and I got over my shy bladder in public restrooms by thinking about the comics I had read while on the pot at home.  Hope that helps.

until you get use to standing start sitting on the toilet then stop stand up and finish.

Standing up and peeing normally isn't a problem. Like in the shower, I can pee. It's just if my hands get anywhere near there. I imagine if I was fully clothed and/or using an STP I'd be the same.

I play PSP alot when I go to the toilet. Although that's not something I can manage without 4 hands.

I just try and think about different things. Maybe hum a little song. For some reason that helps me. I had the same problem for awhile. Practicing might help. Drink tons and tons of water until you have to pee really bad, and then try it.

STPs are awkward and just plain nasty. It's pretty easy to learn to pee standing up but I mostly sat 'til I had surg..  now it's just easier to unzip and go.

Practice!

If you can pee in the shower, try peeing in the shower while touching yourself there.  Once you can do that, try peeing in the tub without the shower.  And seriously, there is that fear of peeing your pants.  Just do it.  Yes, I said it.  Stand in the tub and pee your pants.  It's not the end of the world.  Once you do it once or twice, you find it's not a horrific thing.  Then move on to an STP.  You can try practicing at  home with a medicine spoon, which is really REALLY cheap, and when you master that, then order the STP.  That way you're not out any money while you get the hang of an STP.

Thanks for the Link Jay.

I find my STP hard to use never really had much pratice with it and to be honest its bulky and I just find it hard to position it right the medicine spoon is a fantastic idea as it isn't big or bulky may have a look on ebay for one!

Cheers

I just got the spoon that sneakersjay linked to.

Absolutely fantastic! So far I've only managed to use it twice. Once in the shower and just a second time at the toilet with my trousers down. Haha.

Shy bladder is still a massive issue for me at the moment, but hopefully it should get better as I get used to the new position and all that.

Your pharmacy (drug store/chemist) doesn't sell something similar to measure liquid medications for children in iceland?  Seems like it would be a common item world wide.

Pharmacies here (UK) don't have them either.

Someone help me.
I've not been able to pee in over 10hrs now. I've been drinking loads today too! My bladder actually kind of hurts.
I've had the tap running, I've tried reading, holding my breath, hand in warm water, breathing exercises and nothing is working. I wanna use the medicine spoon so bad but I just can't pee. I can't even pee normally now lol. Gah!

Erm...  That can sometimes happen to an over-full bladder.  If you are absolutely unable to induce urination, it may be necessary to go to the ER and be catheterized.  It is possible to damage the kidneys if the bladder becomes over-full to the point of causing urine to back up into the ureters and into the kidneys (there has to be something wrong with the ureter or some other condition before this will happen, though--the ureter is normally a one-way valve).  Also, the body is *supposed* to take over and empty the bladder before actual damage happens, but... sometimes things go wrong.  Extreme pain would be the first hint.  Anyways, I hope you were able to take a leak.
