Yet I also think that Michael's real issue was that he was transgender. He was always trying to emulate Diana Ross or his sisters, women he dearly loved. I just can't fathom why someone with all that fame and all that power would not use it to benefit themselves. If he announced one day that he was going to become a woman, who's counter-opinion would have matter enough to make a difference? Chastity Bono did it with far less fanfare and a lot less money. Heck, given his fortune, he could have become a woman and then changed back to a man and then back to a woman, had he so desired.

Michael Jackson had A) enough money to make it happen and not care what anyone thought or said about it and B) absolutely zero people in his life capable of telling him 'no,' so, if he wanted to, he would have done it.  I think he was weird on a whole different level.

I disagree.  Look at all the people here who are unwilling to risk what they have and come out.  This is a secretive society for many because so many are too afraid they will lose what they have.  It was the same for MJ.  He had what few people could even dream of but for him this was no different that what we have.  Remember, he was a little kid when the money started flowing in.  He had no idea what it was like to live on what the rest of us consider a nice income.

To say he was weird is to say all trans people are weird.  Look at the people here.  Not one of them would be considered normal in mainstream society.  If you want to judge, you are no better than the people who cast us into the same weird world you put Michael Jackson.

Given how much he had, and how he chose to use a lot of it, I'm thinking "Man in the Mirror" rings a lot more hollow than he intended.

He would have risked far less than he did having sleepovers with 10 year old boys, and no one - including the kids' parents - told him no.  People like that don't have people around them who say the N word. 

And I'm not saying trans is weird ... though if we took a poll... but I'm saying he was weird on a level that few people understand or even come close to.  It was far beyond any of that.  On a level and in a dimension far beyond what people can imagine, though it looks like he spend close to 1/2 a billion dollars in his 50 year life, and that can buy a lot of weirdness.
