I have seen this conversation on many other gay sites, and it often turns nasty. It's probably too much to expect for that not to happen here.

Some gays are said to have passing privilege when people think you're straight until you tell them you're not. It's also sometimes called cisgender privilege. Cisgender is when your gender identity matches the gender expression considered appropriate in Western culture. Sometimes even if people know you're gay you still have privilege because you act straight and appear straight according to straight people.
