Favourite political ideology: Liberalism, Social liberalism
Extreme left only in country's where military or clergy keeps power instead of people.
In typical western democracy center-left, in my homecounty extreme left because I am against giving too much power to military and strong opponent of conscription.
In the USA you will get draft back in case a Republican is elected to replace Obama in 2012.

Highly doubtful.  For several reasons, but not least of which is that the military does not want it.  In fact, pretty much the last thing the military in the US wants is to have to deal with a lot (or in the case of a draft, perhaps even a majority) of people who don't want to be there. Morale suffers, unit cohesion disappears, discipline problems go off the charts.

If Obama were to lose in 12, it would be because he failed to dance with those that brought him - but of course that would also require an opposition who could field a candidate, with a platform consisting of something more than the fact that they don't like the way he throws a baseball, or his choice of jeans, which at this point seems highly dubious. Matter of fact it seem doubtful that the right is going to be able to field a one party ticket in 12, but more likely, a third party run from the right (resulting in a true democratic landslide) seems more possible every day.

Also, if Obama loses in '12, we will invade and defeat Finland, turning it into Gitmo for the 21st century.

Today Finland*, tomorrow the world!  America Uber Alles.

*once we can find enough Americans who could even find Finland on a map

My opinion may not be wanted. So what. I don't mean this in a offensive way but USA politics appear all very right, even the left is right. And the right is so right it has to be right. It is also very secular in politics, as an ex-pom and an Aussie, religion should have no place in politics.
I'm also unsure on the basis of the democratic principle in the USA of needing such massive amounts of money in order to "compete" for office. Nothing corrupts like money. No one makes a worse bedperson as the one who funds you. That said how do you change it? Since power is money and money is power the pretence of democracy will continue.

OBTW I'm not saying communism is any different, I think there are very strong similarities. I'm positive that Putin is absolutely not influenced by money that was used to create his political career.

Feeling a bit angry so having a s**t throwing moment.

Life is being tough.

The real left, is all but ignored on the media.  They are there, but aside from Democracy Now! You're never going to hear them, which makes it look - particularity if you get all your info from TV, that everything is center-right.

That's exactly what it is Cindy, a "pretense" over here.  Now, I'm not saying it's not democratic, it is (at least most of the time), but it's certainly not true democracy.  If anyone knows how to change this, I'm all ears.

<== Still a Socialist.  ;)

I think the trouble is that if you don't pay people enough, or perhaps even a lot, what you wind up with is a bunch of idle rich people, and frankly, we have too many of those already.

Right and left are a little bit different in different countries for example right may vary from protecting the priviledged to authotarian nationalism. For example Finnish real right wing is more right than moderate Republicans because of historical reasons and left-parties at least in economy more left than the most leftist democrats.

The problem with left and right is that there are a variety of issues which have little baring on one another. Economic, social, foreign policy, are three areas. Economic I consider myself leaning socialist. Domestic policy I consider myself a libertarian. Foreign policy wise I'm a Ron Paul style paleoconservative who wants to stay out of other countries. The two answers "left" and "right" don't adequately describe the range of viewpoints these areas can dictate.

Not to mention, this is a transgendered message board. There aren't going to be many social conservatives.

Far more than I ever imagined, but I only see them on boards like this, not at real life TG political stuff, but then again I live in SF, so I don't see social conservatives anywhere.
