Dig reveals Roman transvestite
Excavation in Catterick, 1959

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/england/1999734.stm

Catterick had a diverse population in Roman times
Archaeologists in North Yorkshire have discovered the skeleton of a cross-dressing eunuch dating back to the 4th Century AD.

The find was made during excavations of a Roman settlement in Catterick, first started in 1958.

The skeleton - found dressed in women's clothes and jewellery - is believed to have once been a castrated priest who worshipped the eastern goddess Cybele.

Only one?  I'm sure there were far more.
FIGHT APATHY!, or don't...

I'm amazed at how, inspite all the evidence to the contrary, the "religious right" (and many other small groups) continue to treat transsexualism as something "new"

The religious right of the 5th century AD was absolutely zealous about exterminating transgender: They murdered our people and destroyed our organizations. Trans women in the Roman world followed the religion of the Great Mother Cybele, who was considered the protectress of Rome. Her cultus and Her transgender priestesses were spread all over the Roman world from Britain to Asia Minor, with their headquarters on the Vatican Hill. The Church not only abolished Her religion along with all other paganism, and put trans women to death in the process. Unlike other pagan sites which were converted into churches, they demolished Cybele's buildings down to the foundations and never built anything more on the site. They diverted the Roman people's love and devotion for the Great Mother to their Virgin Mary, which is still evident in the devotion to Mary instead of Christ among Italian peasants.
Here's what I find about compromise--
don't do it if it hurts inside,
'cause either way you're screwed,
eventually you'll find
you may as well feel good;
you may as well have some pride

I wish I could go back in time with an apache helicopter and a swarm of drones. Maybe some napalm.

I am the American fighting transperson.
