Gender vs. Sex vs. Orientation

This is in response to my friend Matt's post about the ignorance people have towards butch women and effeminate men (when people say-- well if you like manly women, why don't you just date a man?  etc.)  For some reason, people seem to think that woman = makeup, dress, femininity; men = toughness, muscle and masculinity-- no exceptions.  Ever.  And that if you are attracted to feminine people, you can only like women-- and vice versa.  What we fail to realize is that sex is separate from gender expression; gender expression is separate from sexual orientation-- it's all a big spectrum that people fall into; a mix-and-match sort of thing.  I sorta stole this diagram from www.gendersanity.com, but I found it to be very enlightening and think you guys should all take a look at it.
