Silverton Mayor Stu Rasmussen's clothing choices are at the center of a formal complaint filed Friday with the city council president.

His appearance at a recent youth leadership training event spurred the complaint, filed by Silverton Together Director Brenda Sturdevant. She said the mayor's attire was in violation of the city council dress code.

Sturdevant said Rasmussen's attire, "high heels, a very short skirt and some sort of halter top revealing much of his bosom, shoulders and back," was inappropriate.

Truly his/her honor. the mayor, could have had better sense in the selection of his/her attire.  More business like, befitting his/her title and position.

Yet, it would have probably been okay legally for a "normal" guy to go shirtless entirely (yes, I'm aware he has breast implants).  ::)

Define appropriate.
If you see him as a woman, then it was appropriate. If you see him as a guy, then no shirt at all is perfectly fine in many instances, but regardless, showing your upper body as a guy is nothing special. There is no way to make everyone happy. Seems to me the town already approves of how he acts and dresses since he was elected.

Care to bet the person filing the complaint will be running against him next election?

Quote"This puts Silverton Together in a position that will be difficult to defend when we have sent our youth home on various occasions to change into something more appropriate,"
Yes, because god forbid someone tries to be different or be themselves in school.

Stu Rasmussen: transgendered mayor gets clothing complaint
July 23, 8:22 AM

Stu Rasmussen is not your typical mayor. But then, he is also not your typical trans person.

Rasmussen, mayor of Silverton, Oregon, and reportedly the first openly transgendered mayor in the United States, expresses his gender as female — with a female hairstyle, clothing, and even breast augmentation — but uses a male pronoun.

"I identify mostly as a heterosexual male," Rasmussen told KGW of Portland upon his election as mayor last November. "But I just like to look like a female."
