Uh ya'all can go o Yahoo groups and join transRights Virginia and keep up with politiks n de land that time forgot ! I ave ben there for several months and currently Eqality Va is circulating a petition to erase discriminationin the Comonwealth. Now I know most of the members in Equality Va are Gay but that can change if we step to the plate and make our voices heard . Last I recall, Equality meant Everybody on board ........ Ya'l comin ? I worked as a social worker for the City of Richmond from 1970 to 2001. Richmond is hardly the land that time forgot. Transgender people work for the city even without legal protections. Richmond had no "cross-dressing" laws even before Stonewall. I worked as a "man", but dressed like a woman ( now we call it "gender queer" )for years before my transition. Equality Virginia used to be called "Virginians for Justice" and there has not been a lot of trans participation. See Jon Klein at "Diversity Thrift" for more info.

Yes, I know Jon , great person . I go to Diversity all the time . I try and donate to them as I can . Still, Richmond compared to Northern Virginia and Tidewater with the exception of a certain Hotel / television station station in Va beach , well you figgure the rest ! Ellen Shaver

I helped Jon set up the first store on N.Blvd. I used to attend "Virginia's Secret" at Babe's back in 2000. Jon will remember me. I used to go to the MCC in the fan and knew Rev. Jillian Story. I think Richmond is way ahead of where I live now. Richmond had an African-American city manager and police chief 3 decades before any place where I am now. Henrico Co. is different than Richmond. That is where you mean. In 1976, uniformed police were allowed beards and earings. Nothin like that down here.

Good success in your elections. I live in New York but I follow many states as much as possible.
