We began the process of transitioning with Paul dressing as a woman at home. For our family, transitioning has been a long, strange journey...

Let me start by explaining that my mostly-female family is prone to warped senses of humor. Only two of us are fundamentally humorless. Paul actually told my mother and younger sister before he told me. He even sent them pictures he had taken of his first attempts at dressing as a woman while studying abroad. My sister's reaction was that Paul really, really needed help with his fashion sense. The outfit itself was okay, but a too-small knit was a bad choice on a very overweight body. (I eventually borrowed that outfit for a trip to Canada.)
