Inside my soul

Tiffanie

Inside my soul there is a place
where all the things I fear remain
A dark and distant prison cell
that helps protect me from my pain

I hide my dreams and my desires
and feelings I refuse to share
The torment that these issues bring
is more than I can ever bear

Throughout my life I've built the walls
to give me a false sense of pride
The world may think that they know me
but I know they can't see inside

For deep within these walls I've built
a part of me remains to dwell
Staring out with longing eyes
while trapped within this secret hell

So I still struggle to contain
the self that struggles to be free
But I cannot tear down these walls
I cannot show the real me

So in my sorrow I will stay
buried deep within this hole
And no one else will ever know
the turbulence inside my soul

That is such a beautiful poem Tiffanie,

I have had the exact feelings and I do know "the turbulence inside your soul"  I thought I would take my secret to my grave, but now a few know me and soon many more will. I hope all works out well for you Tiffanie.

Beautiful work Tiffanie,

At the riskof attempting to stereotype I wonder if we are as a group in society more artistic than others.

I wonder this becuase so many of us are in touch with our true inner self.

Just a thought.

Thanks for the poem, Tiffanie.

Shelley, I think that's very true! (if it is a stereotype, then it's a positive one so I for one am not complaining!)

Hi Tiffanie,

Poems are a beautiful way of telling a story and you have skillfully woven a sorrowful tale of a very sad little girl with a lot of unhappiness locked up inside.

It is very beautifully written, easy to read, and flows gracefully.  The first time I read it, I became a little teary eyed, especially with the last stanza.  It is going to be very hard for anyone to read your poem and not feel compassion and caring for this beautiful little girl.

I have read it three or more times and it is just superb!  This is very possibly one of the best poems on this site to date.  It will be hard to beat.

love,

joanna

I truly appreciate the kindness from all of you.  Thank you.

I have written poetry and stories my whole life, it's like an emotional catharsis for me, but I have never had a place to share my writing.

I am enjoying all the other writings posted here.  I think you are right, Shelley.  There is a lot of artistic talent in this group.

Tiffanie,

It is lovely, a very touching piece.  But now, you have let the cat out of the bag haven't you? You now have a place to let the lonely girl have some friends.  You can now tell.  So share some more of your writing with us.  We all love the company of brilliant people!
