Unexpected Effects of HRT

This question is for everybody. What effects did you get from HRT that you were not expecting? I'll start.

Fuzzy knees. For some reason, my knees got hairy very quickly. I love it.

Uneven hair growth on my calves. I'm pretty fuzzy on the inside of both legs, and there's a bit of hair on the front (yes, the knees mainly), but virtually nothing on the back or the outside. What is up with that? I feel lopsided.

A LOT more back sweat. Ick.

  • zit fest on my shoulders, collarbone, and upper back
  • hair on legs/thighs above the knee
  • much more manageable libido (seriously I know it's supposed to be the other way around but with estrogen it had crazy peaks and dips)

Myself

Weight loss and balanced TSH levels.

Estrogen supposed to do the opposite on both :O

It's not muscle loss as estrogen was added after over a year with anti-androgens which are the cause for muscle loss.

Facial hair growth much faster than expected, I have been shaving it off. Stomach hair also came faster than expected and is really blond. My big ohh this sucks is my back has started breaking out pretty badly where my binder is, luckily that will be gone soon.

I also have experienced some weight loss, as well as sooner than expected results on just about everything else. The complete change in sexual response was anticipated but the great degree to which is has was unexpected. The biggest unexpected results however have been the psychological ones.

New hair growth on my head suprised me. It was already really thick, and I didn't know my hair was thinning so it seems I started hrt right on time. All through my scalp I have about 3 inches of new growth, and since my hair is dyed black and my natural color is kind of sandy blonde, I have an interesting Calico thing going on.

Harlequin woman! I would love to see that--sounds exotic.

Ugh, I sympathize. I've been very lucky in this respect--everyone told me I would break out, and I haven't.

Hmm. Maybe I'll start a new thread, expected effects that didn't materialize...

I've been leaving the sideburns. And the wispy little mustache--can't bear to shave that off...

I suppose the weight loss is the only thing that took me by surprise, though I didn't much expect for my hands and head to grow as much as they have. I have the weird hair growth on my legs just like Arch, though it's mostly from the knees down. And acne... I knew I'd get it, but I didn't figure on getting it the way I have. None on my face; in fact, the occasional zit I get there is far better than the many I would get before T. However, it's incredibly irritating on my shoulders. That didn't start until I'd been on T about 8 months, so guys like Arch who are thanking your lucky stars right now, don't be surprised if it happens eventually.

Despite the slight downfalls, however, I would never go back on T. Best decision I ever made.

My freaking hips rotated. This is not psychological, its physical. I can't stand like I used to without trying really hard and it hurts to do so.

I walk in a straight line. Also that line on the back of the boy junk is split in some areas. I wish it would finish the job already...

Curvier back...

Feelings of total age regression... A fetishistic ideal I didn't ask for...

I sleep more on my back now.

I don't mind boy parts on other people. I don't necessarily like men, except a REALLY selective few... But the idea of someone else having the junk doesn't really bother me. My brain never said, "You wont be attracted to this" before, but it was never very deep seated or even CLOSE.

Now its a part of me. D:

Getting a worse shave even with softer hair. Thats right, shaving sucks even more cause it grows back and can't be shaven cause it isn't close enough. Electro in like a week or something.

I knew that the libido would die, which it was already at.  But now it is returning.  Not the nasty boy libido, more feminine.  More internal.

Okay, I'll wait and see. But I've always had incredibly dry skin all my life, so I might still escape the plague. I barely had any acne in my first puberty--just a zit every once in a while.

On T, my face is a bit oilier--that was a surprise, actually, since I've never had that before--but the skin on the rest of my body is still very dry. I think that if I get much acne anywhere, it will stay on my face. Right where everyone can see it. :D

This is so funny--sort of ironic. My heightened libido is a hassle--I haven't quite learned how to ignore it--but I'm actually glad of it. Guess I like being a nasty boy. Now, if I only had someone to share it with...

K-X -- interesting. I've heard that hips can change their orientation a bit because of changes in the strength of muscles that hold everything in place.

I haven't experienced anything I'd call surprising. I think I look a little younger, and that wasn't totally expected, but made sense, since it's mostly about facial fat and skin tone, etc.
All changes, even the most longed for, have their melancholy; for what we leave behind us is a part of ourselves; we must die to one life before we can enter another.

I'll agree with Arch about the fuzzy knees.  I didn't know one could grow hair on one's knees.  :D

Also, I've been surprised at the way my sexual response has changed.  My libido hasn't so much increased, as it doesn't peak and ebb to quite the degree it used to.  It's just gotten very moderate.  And doing something about it isn't as enjoyable as it once was.  :-\  I've also been surprised to find my attitude and beliefs about sex changing.  It's as if a division has been made between sex and intimacy that wasn't there before.

I'm happy to find myself becoming more outgoing on T.  That was something I kind of hoped for, but didn't really expect.

Same thing happened to me! Brand new hairs ( a lot of them ) are growing.  I can't wait until it all catches up.  My hair has never started to fall out so this is extra and pretty cool!
