"Contrary to claims of sexual orientation change advocates and practitioners,
there is insufficient evidence to support the use of psychological interventions to
change sexual orientation," said Judith M. Glassgold, PsyD, chair of the task force.
"Scientifically rigorous older studies in this area found that sexual orientation was
unlikely to change due to efforts designed for this purpose. Contrary to the claims
of SOCE practitioners and advocates, recent research studies do not provide
evidence of sexual orientation change as the research methods are inadequate to
determine the effectiveness of these interventions." Glassgold added: "At most,
certain studies suggested that some individuals learned how to ignore or not act
on their homosexual attractions. Yet, these studies did not indicate for whom this
was possible, how long it lasted or its long-term mental health effects. Also, this
result was much less likely to be true for people who started out
only attracted to people of the same sex."

I've always wanted to live in a neighborhood with you.

So let's make the most of this beautiful day,

Would you be mine?
Could you be mine?
Won't you be my neighbor?" - Fred Rogers

It's really moving along to be sure.  I can't believe how far we've come in just the past decade.  It is an exciting time to be alive.  Can you imagine how boring all this would be without "some" adversity?  ;)

Chin up!

Yeah, didn't they wake up back in '79 or so?

The time for change is upon us.  The AMA stated that SRS is not cosmetic, but required for Transsexual patients.  Now the APA has finally stated that homosexuality isn't changeable.  States are slowly allowing SSM.  Some have anti-discrimination laws in place.  The Federal government is in the process of passing hate and anti-discrnimation laws.  Health care is on the table.

It truly is a good time for transition.  Who knows what the coming decade will see.

It is obvious to me that in fact, they have not.
This development is an indictment against the guest "therapist" quacks,
on this "show", one of which who represents "Focus On the Family",
who are touting this form of scarring torture, as being therapeutic.

ERRRRRRRRRRRR  Why do I bother to listen to the hateful speech of Dr. Fools minions.  Sorry,, Baby.  I had to because you posted it, but my blood pressure go up every time.

Why must we live our lives the way they want us to.  Is it because they are so Almighty Righteous?  Who died and make them the boss of how people live their own lives.

Sorry, I am stepping down off my soapbox now.

I love this woman!  I went through this crap with some Mormon therapists back in the day.  Yes, it was my dad's fault because they felt that we had not bonded when I was a child. One idiot also had this fascination with door knobs and how it related to what I felt inside. I had a horrific experience with shock therapy where the "smart" psychiatrist had a fascination with shocking the hell out of my private parts. It was such a load of BS.  I was always very  close to my father.... much more so than my mother in my early years.  BUT....

I still had the secret.  I could not bear to tell him.  And so the secret invaded every moment of inactivity. It ruined my childhood.  These people do not know what they are talking about.  They have no concept how strong the drive and these feelings are.

Some day, we'll get there.  There will always be people who think that we are crazy.  But that number is diminishing.  Everywhere I go now, I see gay couples in public unashamed to be seen. Hoo rah for them. God has not blasted a hole where they stand and people generally get along.

Yeah the most shocking thing about gay marriages when they occur is that the sun keeps on rising in the east, setting in the west and California can't solve its budget problems no matter what.

It's the big huge suddenly nothing happened that scares them the most.

Oh you mean like Lady Soror Dunsay?

Cindi,

I can only imagine how horrific that must have been for you.
I am glad you are here and am thankful that you weren't
dished more than you could handle. Like just about
everyone here, I find your example, your tinacity
and caring to be an inspiration.
