How to deal with hypersensitive painful nipples?

As long nothing touches my nipples it's ok but if anything hits with it even slightly by accident, it's painful to the utmost degree. Is this normal? I cannot reduce my doses, I'm already on the strict minimum, how can I continue HRT without having hypersensitive nipples like this?

Growing breasts are very sensitive.

Just don't let anything hit them.

What exactly is the problem? I think they are kinda fun personally! Try a nice soft cotton sportsbra.

A dear friend of mine mentioned that you might consider using pasties
or large (5 x 5cm) bandaids to prevent the material of your top
from rubbing and further accentuating the problem.

Could you be mine?
Won't you be my neighbor?" - Fred Rogers

Um, it sounds like Shelina's experiences and yours are considerably different. Pain is not fun. And the cotton bra might help only a little, or not at all. It might even make things worse if it is snug.

My strategy when I was a teenager was basically "grin and bear it." I do not recommend this route. That was the mid-seventies, when the country was a bit more repressed than now.

I was too embarrassed to say anything to anyone, but a lot of girls at my junior high talked about it in the locker room or when it was just girls (and me, but I was living as a girl then). I don't know what they did for the pain--griped about it, mostly. I think we all just put up with it.

For me, it was more of an internal and all-around pain--it wasn't simply external chafing. Sometimes my discomfort was so acute that it was all I could think about. It's a good thing I didn't have a driver's license. I would have been in one accident after the other.

This sounds like a hormonal thing. Is it possible that your being on the lowest HRT dose will just stretch out your discomfort for longer? Your HRT doc should know what's going on.

You might also try your GP or a GYN. Or try one of those nurse hotlines. If you call a hotline and are hesitant to explain your situation, just say that you're asking on behalf of your teenage daughter--after all, nipple discomfort is a normal part of adolescence for a lot of girls.

Bottom line, IMHO, is that if it's so bad that it's truly painful, then you really ought to seek professional help, just in case.

Ugh--I'm wincing just remembering those days. I was fracking miserable.

P.S. You could always ask some of the guys on this forum, if you phrase it delicately!

it's a normal part of female puberty, we all go through it. You might ask Virginia Marie, she has a massage technique that helps. Also I found that a heating pad helps- if you're somewhere in the US you can get an oversized one at WalMart that is long enough to wrap across both breasts.

I know I'm technically speaking from the other side, but as I grew up with a female body, I find it odd that I do not recall having any breast sensitivity or pain.  Ever.  Even now, I think my nipples have about as much sensation as my arm, if not less.

It is called a notebook.  Remember in school?  All the girls would carry their notebooks in front of them.  And now you know the rest of the story.

And I thought it was a mechanism for hiding.

Sorry, hijacking.  I shall now take my leave.

I've heard this from a number of guys. I've also heard that some have sensation that they do not want. I guess that's one reason some of my transguy friends don't really care whether they retain nipple sensation after top surgery. In fact, some want to lose a lot of what they've got.

For my part, I always had a lot of sensitivity in that entire region even though I was embarrassed to have that anatomy. After I came out of the closet, I still derived sexual satisfaction from my nipples but gradually lost sensation in the rest of my chest. That, I suspect, was purely psychological.

The pain I felt when I was younger was anything but psychological. Some days it was really bad--that's why I cannot be flippant about what Shelina is describing. If it's anything like my experiences, OUCH!!!

My ex told me she didn't experience nipple pain when she grew her boobs, but she pointed out that she was always overweight. I'm quite thin with little body fat or muscle. I experienced a few weeks of very frequent pain throughout my chest as my breasts began to grow, and then as the budding began behind the breasts stopped hurting but the nipples they were pained and very sore, but the soreness has been subsiding. They're sensitive, but not murderously so as at first if I bump them.

I was very thin when I began to grow breasts.  So, I don't know.  Even when I've been utterly thin, nipple sensation has been nearly nonexistent.

You'll find that breast growth is more than just the lumps underneath the nipples. Once that finishes developing, you'll get what I call concentric rings around your areolae. This growth period can be painful, too. It's all part of the process. I was a bit concerned and scared with the entire process, but I'm fine now. My breasts stopped hurting and are painless to the touch now. I'm thin with little body fat, but lots of muscle for my build.
