In the process of transitioning McCauley dressed as a male during the day, working as a secretary at a Clearwater hospital. In the evening she wore female attire.
On the night of December 6, 2003 she left Club Z109 with McHenry. The club is a popular venue for area transsexuals.
Her body was discovered the next day by her mother who lived next door.
